Senior Leadership Team
I was appointed as the Principal of Lincoln Primary School in October of 2009. I commenced duties in January 2010. I have been the Principal of four schools prior to my appointment at Lincoln. Principalship commenced for me in 1988 on the beautiful West Coast. I enjoyed 20 years teaching there before returning home to Christchurch. It is my goal to keep students at the very heart of all decision making within our school. The Management team and Board of Trustees actively seek improvement in our practices and those of the dedicated and committed teaching teams. We have been very challenged for space during recent years due to significant roll growth. We have been creative in our solutions to these challenges for space, however programmes for our students have not been compromised. I enjoy visiting learning spaces to work alongside children and their teachers as often as possible. Introducing science programmes, FIE, digital initiatives and collaborative learning environments has been hugely rewarding as I see our learning community developing from strength to strength. I am very proud to be part of the Lincoln Primary School learning community. I look forward to working in close partnerships with all involved both now and into the future.Living on a lifestyle block is very time consuming and ensures I spend lots of time outside with my husband, daughter, son in law and two beautiful wee grandchildren who live on an adjoining block to ours. Horses are a life long passion (addiction). I enjoy competing in dressage and supporting my daughter as she travels New Zealand and sometimes internationally to compete in various eventing competitions.
Learning Leader Syndicates 1 & 2
This year I am looking forward to being a part of the management team and the opportunities and challenges this presents. As well as being the Deputy Principal overseeing Syndicates 1 and 2 I am also the SENCO teacher, responsible for facilitating learning support programmes across the whole school. I am passionate about supporting all students to be engaged, independent and successful learners. I have a strong interest in student cognition. As a trained FIE teacher I also facilitate our FIE programme across five year levels. My career has predominantly been working with Reception - Year 3 students and I have taught in a variety of schools both here in New Zealand, Australia and England. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with Mark and our three children aged between 4 and 14. I often spend my time as a taxi driver taking my children to their various sporting and extracurricular activities which I thoroughly enjoy.
Learning Leader Syndicates 3 & 4
Upon my return from overseas travel in the late 1990’s I proceeded to study for and graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing Degree. I then completed a Teaching Diploma and Bachelor of Education Degree. Having worked in both disciplines, of nursing and teaching, it didn't take long for me to realise that teaching was the career path I wanted to follow. Consequently for the last seventeen years, I have been able to develop an effective “Teaching and Leadership Toolbox” that is continually being added to and refined. I have a personal commitment to ongoing professional growth, because learning never ceases no matter how experienced you are! As well as being Deputy Principal overseeing Syndicates 3 and 4, I provide professional leadership that continues to promote effective teaching and student learning at Lincoln Primary School. I am excited to be part of a forward thinking management team, while leading a dedicated group of teachers who pride themselves in ensuring that our students are engaged, independent and successful learners. When not at school I enjoy spending time with family, especially my husband Troy and three children Jessica, Ben and Anna.
